Big Brown had the post position. He was calm and relaxed during the parade. He loaded into the gate no problem. He came out of the gate 3rd and crossed the finish 3rd.
LAST?!?! I watched the finish, saw the jockey get him pulled up, unsaddled and then led away.
I wonder if he gave up, or had too much Calmez to run all out. Hot and a very long race though, that's enough to take the starch out of anything warmblooded.
In an interview after the race, his jockey said something to the effect of, "I realized I had no horse." Also another nice comment about pulling up: "I had to take care of the horse."
Sometimes, it just isn't your day. It seems that the Belmont does that to a lot of winners.
Im more inclined to think that there is a high chance that everyone closely attached to that horse is laughing all the way to their swiss bank accounts. hrslady
Actually, BB finished last. I hope he is OK. Congrats to the winner.
