This is Cody, 14, riding a two year old colt for the first time. The trick is staying 100% relaxed while ready for anything the horse might do. Click to view a larger size, and look at the intense look on Cody's face.
I think it was just the way the camera caught him. He's a Missouri Fox Trotter, and it's hard to say how much spirit he has yet. Right now, like in this photo, he's so busy trying to figure out what Cody is asking him to do that that's the only thing he can think of right now. But watching him, you can tell how smooth he is going to be to ride. Wow.
When I saw the smaller picture, I thought she looks pretty relaxing and steady with the ride. Upon looking at the larger picture, I can see that she is focused on her ride; just like a pro!
Beautiful animal and I'm sure she is quite spirited. She has a strange look to her eyes, but maybe it's just the way the camera caught her.
